How to play NBA Bounty

Draft NBA team portfolios. Wins score; the weekly bounty can shake up team ownership.

How NBA Bounty works: draft NBA teams, earn one point for every win by a team you own, one team becomes the weekly bounty, and the winner's owner chooses a bonus point or a swap of the two teams.

The full rules

  • A league may have between 2 and 13 members. New leagues can start throughout the season, beginning with the next complete Monday-through-Sunday week.
  • Commissioners can run a snake draft on Sloopio or assign teams based on an offline draft.
  • You can add AI/CPU opponents to your league. They draft their own teams and make their own bounty decisions using different strategies.
  • Undrafted teams belong to the Phantom, which cannot score or win the competition.
  • During each Monday-through-Sunday week, one scheduled NBA team is selected randomly as the bounty team for every league. In any particular league, that team may be owned by a member or controlled by the Phantom.
  • The same NBA team may be selected in consecutive weeks, and every game involving it may create a bounty event.
  • The owner must choose a reward before either team plays its next game, and no later than noon Eastern the following Monday.
  • If no choice is made, the winning owner receives the bonus point.
  • The bounty stays with its team for the rest of the week. If that team is traded, its bounty status goes with it and can trigger another bounty event.
  • If one member owns both the bounty team and its opponent, that member automatically receives the normal point plus the bonus point—there is no trade choice.
  • A bounty game between two Phantom-controlled teams does not create a bounty event or reward.
  • All wins count the same, whether in regulation or overtime. Losses earn no points.
  • There are no weekly starting lineups, waivers, or voluntary trades in the beta version of the game.
  • NBA Bounty ends with the NBA regular season. All NBA Cup games, including the Championship, count; the NBA playoffs do not. Most points wins. There is no tiebreaker, so tied members share the championship.
